Anti-bedroom tax campaigners across the country will take part in a mass sleep out tomorrow night.

The sleep out is taking place in over 50 towns and cities across the UK in a bid to raise awareness about the government's controversial under-occupancy policy.

John McFarlane, a bedroom tax protester from Withington, will be joining campaigners in Greater Manchester for the night under the stars.

He said: "I'm sleeping out because no matter how safe we feel in our homes, we are all just one government decision from sleeping on the streets."

Fellow protester Catherine Elsted, who is also taking part in the Manchester event, added: "Mass protest always finds a place in history. I want to be part of an historical event that helps bring about an end to a vicious tax on the poorest and most vulnerable members of society."
